Traditional İskender Kebap
The legendary taste of Bursa: A wonderful recipe where thinly sliced meat meets butter and tomato sauce on pita bread.
Ingredients
- 500g thinly sliced beef (or frozen thinly sliced doner meat)
- 2 pita breads (tırnak pide)
- 3 tbsp butter (for topping)
- 2 cups smooth tomato sauce
- Strained yogurt for serving on the side
Instructions

Dice the pita breads, crisp them slightly in the oven or pan, and spread them on the bottom of a serving plate.

Cook the thinly sliced meat by searing it in a preheated cast-iron pan.

Place the meat on top of the pitas, and pour the hot tomato sauce evenly over the meat and bread.

Add yogurt to the side of the plate and finally pour sizzling hot butter over the dish before serving hot.
